Lenexa Arts Council presents new lineup of art shows
2012 brings exciting new art exhibits to Lenexa’s City Hall Art Gallery. With a variety of mediums and types of art to be displayed, there’s something to interest everyone.
To kick off the new year, gallery is featuring the work of Beverly Carden Amundson. The exhibit includes nearly 30 two-dimensional pastel and mixed-media pieces as well as landscapes painted en plein aire.
A Lenexa resident, Amundson’s formal training began at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Mo. She helped to found The Amundson Group and AGI Inc., both graphic art and design firms, before returning to fine art painting. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States.
At the same time, Lenexa Firefighter Keith Weuve is also displaying three paintings featuring firefighting equipment and firefighters.
Lastly, a three-dimensional display called “January: Resetting the Clock,” features a variety of timepieces and methods of watching time from the personal collections of the Lenexa Arts Council.
Don’t miss these current exhibits, only on display until Jan. 30. Coming up, the gallery will feature two- and three-dimensional art of students in the Great Plains 4H Club from Jan. 31 to Feb. 27.
Then, look for a quilt show from the Fractured Fabric Society Feb. 28 through March 28 as well as nature photography from Jim Stark to celebrate Earth Day (the show runs March 29 through April 30).
The gallery is open during regular City Hall hours; admission is free.
