Road Construction Updates

Quivira Road lane closures begin on Jan. 17
Crews are scheduled to begin the first phase of a multi-phase project to widen Quivira Road between 99th Street and 105th Street on Jan. 17, weather permitting.

Road construction for this phase will necessitate daily lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning on southbound Quivira Road at 99th Street. Current utility relocation work by WaterOne will continue on northbound Quivira Road from 105th Street to 101st Street until completed. The entire project is anticipated for completion in late Fall 2012.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane during this phase of construction. Motorists should expect delays while travelling through the area and are encouraged to find alternate routes during construction.

The project to widen Quivira Road to six lanes also includes the construction of auxiliary turn lanes, sidewalks, storm drainage upgrades, street lighting and traffic signal modifications. Miles Excavating, Inc. is the contractor.

Residents who want to learn more about this project are invited to a public open house on Jan. 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Myron E. Scafe building at 8500 Antioch in Overland Park. Information on this and other public improvement projects is available on the Public Improvement Projects page of the City of Lenexa website.
