This license is required if cereal malt beverages will be consumed on premises or purchased in unopened containers.
In order to qualify for a cereal malt beverage license, you must:
- be a Kansas resident for at least one year
- be a resident of Johnson County for at least six months
- be a citizen of the United States
- not have been convicted of a felony or adjudged guilty of any intoxication liquor law of any state
How to apply
Contact the Department of Community Development to determine which form you’ll need to complete, depending on the type of business you own. The form, which has been approved by the Attorney General of the State of Kansas, requires verification of the above requirements and general information about the applicant and proposed business location. The applicant must submit a criminal history report for any individuals named in the application.
If the application is approved and accompanied by the cereal malt license fee, it is placed on the agenda for approval at the next City Council meeting. Approved licenses are valid for the calendar year and must be renewed annually.
