American Heart Association CPR Classes

The Lenexa Fire Department provides American Heart Association training in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid. There are two class types that are available for instruction, Heartsaver CPR/ AED/ First Aid class and BLS for Health Care Providers as shown below. All instructors are licensed by the American Heart Association. Classes are typically taught at our training facility at Fire Station #3, located at 24000 Prairie Star Parkway in Lenexa.

Heartsaver CPR/ AED/ First Aid class This is a 6 hour class for the general public.  The cost of this class is $60. We will provide a student manual and a CPR card at the successful completion of the class.

Heartsaver®  First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. 

Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.  This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.

BLS for Health Care Providers  This is a 5 hour class for the general public.  The cost of this class is $50. We will provide a student manual and a CPR card at the successful completion of the class.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

July 12, 20149 am - 3 pm (Initial Certification)

 Hands Only CPR This is a no cost training that will be held in various locations throughout the city.

Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting (such as at home, at work or in a park).
