Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park is 50.9 acres and includes many amenities for everyone. It is home to the Legler Barn Museum, several sport courts, a nine-hole disc golf course and four shelters available to rent. Jogging/walking trails meander throughout the park and around Rose’s Pond.

Legler Barn Museum

Lenexa’s history is on display at the park at the Legler Barn Museum & Depot.

  • Admission is free, but donations are accepted
  • Hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lions Memorial Shelter

The Lions Memorial Shelter is located on the southeast side of Rose’s Pond. It is 52'x32' with a capacity of 90/70 seated. There are nine 8-foot tables, electricity, lighting and one grill. Restrooms are available nearby.

Meadowlark Shelter

The Meadowlark Shelter is located on the north side of the park. It is 20’x30’ with a capacity of 70/60 seated. There are 10 6-foot tables, electricity, lighting, one grill and restrooms nearby.

Sunflower Shelter

The Sunflower Shelter is located on the north side of the park. It is 20’x30’ with a capacity of 70/60 seated. There are 10 6-foot tables, electricity, lighting, two grills and restrooms nearby.

Grand Pavilion

The Sar-Ko-Par Pavilion is located on the north side of the park, east of Rose's Pond. It is 109'x50' with a capacity of 225/216 seated. There is electricity, lighting, 27 8-foot tables and one grill with restrooms nearby. A RideKC Bike hub is in the parking lot.

Gazebo

You can rent the gazebo for up to two hours. It is 10’ diameter with three benches around the inside perimeter. Restrooms are located outside the Legler Barn Museum and open mid-April through the end of October.


Playgrounds

North playground

This playground is geared for ages 5–12, with four slides, climbing rock wall, tunnel, standing and sitting spinners. The surface of this playground is poured in place with artificial turf.

Single sit and spin

Playground by Rose's Pond

This large play area offers of a view of Rose’s Pond, the Grand Pavilion and the Lions Memorial Shelter. It is located near restrooms. It features a toddler playground for ages 2–5, which is next to a large play area designed for ages 5–12. Some features of the ages 5–12 area include a large spinning climber, rope structures and a tall tower that overlooks the lake. The swing set includes a two-person swing, and the play surface is artificial turf.

South playground

A hidden treat behind Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center, you will find this playground geared to ages 2–5. It has a climbing wall and ladder with two slides. The playground surface is wood mulch.


Roller hockey rink

The outdoor roller hockey rink also accommodates soccer and broom ball. Push-button lighting is available until 11 p.m. The rink can be rented by the hour.

Tennis courts

Tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, unless they are previously reserved. Push-button lighting is available until 11 p.m. Courts can be rented by the hour.

Rolling Magic Skate Park

Action sports enthusiasts can test their talents with skateboards, BMX bicycles, scooters, wheelchairs and inline skates.


Fishing

Rose’s Pond is stocked with channel catfish, bluegill, sunfish and largemouth bass. You must have a state fishing license if you are between 16 and 74 years old. Hours coincide with park hours: 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
