Mayor and City Council
Lenexa's Governing Body
The Governing Body is the legislative branch of the city government, responsible for making policy decisions and passing ordinances concerning the conduct and affairs of the city. The eight council members are elected from four wards, in non-partisan elections, for four-year staggered terms. The Mayor, who provides leadership on all policy deliberations that come before the Governing Body, is elected at large for a four-year term. When vacancies occur between elections, appointment to fill vacancy is made by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. Regular city elections are held every two years in the spring. For more information, contact David Bryant, City Clerk, at 913.477.7516.
Governing Body Goals
Lenexa's Mayor and City Council recognize the importance and value of having a deliberate planning process to help guide land use, economic development, and efficient use of public funds. See the Governing Body Goals.
