Drivers license and motor vehicle registration
When applying for an original, renewal or a current Kansas license, application must be made to a Driver License Examiner of the Division of Vehicles. In Johnson County, there are two examination stations:
- 1839 S. Ridgeview (151st & Ridgeview, Village Center) in Olathe, 913.829.2501
- 6507 Johnson Drive in Mission 913.432.2266
In Wyandotte County, there is one examination station:
1951 N. 63rd Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66102-1101, 913.287.2900

Free copies of the Kansas Driving Handbook are available at each Examination Station or from the Public Service Officer on duty in the lobby of Lenexa Police Headquarters
Motor vehicle registration
Kansas License plates are required on all vehicles garaged or kept in Kansas. Vehicle License plates are issued by the County Treasurer's Motor Vehicle Office. Persons operating or storing qualifying vehicles without current Kansas Vehicle License Plates may be required to pay various fines, fees and taxes. Changes of address must be reported within 10 days.
New Kansas residents are required to register their vehicles and obtain plates within 90 days of moving into the state. The vehicle registration offices (tag renewals) are located at:

Trash and recycling
All solid waste, residential and commercial, is collected by private contractors under permit to conduct business in Lenexa. New residents are encouraged to call one of the following companies at their earliest convenience to establish service, inquire about specific pickup schedules, and to ask questions regarding the collection of residential waste as well as recyclable materials.
