Year in Review
Lenexa has come a long way from its early days as a small town along the Santa Fe Trail. U.S. Census Bureau data released in May 2014 reported that Lenexa’s population had surpassed 50,000 residents. In fact, the number of residents grew by nearly 50 percent in the last 25 years. People are drawn to Lenexa in part because it is an attractive and safe city, with a rich history and a strong, hometown sense of community spirit. The city also has earned the reputation as a leader in local government initiatives such as public safety, economic development, festivals, stormwater management, communication and the use of technology.
For the 2014 Year in Review, we chose to highlight 50 reasons to celebrate Lenexa in honor of reaching the 50,000 population milestone.
