Performing and Visual Arts scholarships
The LAC sponsors up to $3,000 in visual and performing arts scholarships for Lenexa graduating seniors pursuing a college arts education. Outside judges select scholarship winners in both categories, with winners being honored each April or May. Applications may be downloaded by selecting the appropriate link, below. Legislative art
Each year, LAC members select art works created by Lenexa artists to grace the Topeka offices of the governor and state legislators who represent Lenexa citizens. The pieces remain in Topeka for the spring legislative session, which runs from early February until late April.
Children’s arts camps
The LAC supports children’s art programs, such as the annual StoneLion Puppet Theatre Camp, offered each summer through the Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department. For more information and to register for a camp, see the online Lenexa Leisure Recreation Guide.
Festival musical entertainment
The LAC also promotes the arts at Lenexa festivals through live musical entertainment at the annual Enchanted Forest and Spinach Festival events.
