Mariachi Band for Senior Citizens – May 8
A mariachi band will entertain senior citizens at 12:45 p.m. at the Lenexa Senior Center following the Cinco De Mayo celebration lunch. Lunch begins at noon and costs $3 (plus an additional fee for additional tacos). Attendees are encouraged to dress up according to the theme. To register, call the Community Center at 913.477.7100.
Movie in the Park – May 17
Grab your blanket or lawn chairs and join us for a musical movie on the big screen. Showtime is approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Electric Park, 93rd and Loiret. “School of Rock” (PG-13) will be shown. Come early to hear youth bands from Music House School of Music, who will warm up the audience with fun popular rock music starting at 7:30 p.m. The event is free. The Lenexa Historical Society will sell concessions. This event is sponsored by the Lenexa Arts Council and Music House School of Music. The inclement weather makeup date is May 18. Parking is limited.
Funky Mama Kids Concert – May 22
Kids will love the Funky Mama concert following Gym for Me at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 at the Lenexa Community Center. Cost is $1 per person.
Music in Art at City Hall Gallery – May 6-30
A music-themed collection featuring a variety of miniature pianos is on display in the City Hall Art Gallery. The exhibit is coordinated by the Lenexa Arts Council. The City Hall Art Gallery shows are free and open to the public during regular City Hall hours.
