May is Music Month
Music is in the air as our community celebrates May is Music Month! Check out the fun activities from 2013 and watch for updates in early 2014 for next year's festivities.
Mariachi Band for Senior Citizens – May 8
A mariachi band entertained senior citizens at the Lenexa Senior Center following the Cinco De Mayo celebration lunch. Attendees dressed up according to the theme.
Movie in the Park – May 17
Grab your blanket or lawn chairs and join us for a musical movie on the big screen at Electric Park. “School of Rock” (PG-13) was shown and youth bands from Music House School of Music played for the audience prior to the movie. The Lenexa Historical Society will sold concessions. This event was sponsored by the Lenexa Arts Council and Music House School of Music.
Funky Mama Kids Concert – May 22
Kids enjoyed the Funky Mama concert following Gym for Me at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 at the Lenexa Community Center.
Music in Art at City Hall Gallery – May 6-30
A music-themed collection featuring a variety of miniature pianos is on display in the City Hall Art Gallery. The exhibit is coordinated by the Lenexa Arts Council. The City Hall Art Gallery shows are free and open to the public during regular City Hall hours.
