Spinach Festival

Presented by 94.9 KCMO

Lenexa was hailed as the “Spinach Capital of the World” during the 1930s. Each year, we celebrate that part of our history with the annual Spinach Festival, a fun, family-oriented event that draws thousands of visitors from all over the area. It’s a festive day of music, entertainment, arts and antique vendors, food, a recipe contest, kids’ activities and so much more – all set in beautiful Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park.

The 2012 Spinach Festival will be held on September 8. Visitors of all ages can participate in the games and activities, dine at the expanded food court and plan for a day of family fun, including interacting with Popeye and Olive Oyl, sampling the World’s Largest Spinach Salad and entering the youngest festival goers in the Swee’pea Baby Crawling Contest. Fee is $1; children 12 and under are free.

Art, fine crafts and antique vendors

The Spinach Festival Art/Fine Crafts and Antique Committee, a partnership between the Lenexa Historical Society and the Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department, invites you to consider reserving an art, fine crafts and/or antiques booth for the 2012 Spinach Festival. For each booth space fee, antique vendors will receive a 10.5' x 10.5' booth space and art/fine craft vendors will receive a 15’ x 15’ booth space on the grass at the park.

The Spinach Festival Art, Fine Crafts and Antiques event is a juried show; all art and fine craft exhibitors must submit photos of their merchandise. Only quality, hand-made crafts (no manufactured, imported or kit items) and vintage, primitive or antique vendors (no flea market or garage sale items) will be accepted.
