Shelter Rental Policy

Rental policy
Lenexa park shelter rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Shelter reservations open the first business day of January for the year. All reservations must be made in person at the Lenexa Community Center, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Shelter locations and capacity information


Renters may choose from three time options:

  • 1/2 day, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • 1/2 day, 3 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Full day, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Shelter rental fees
Applies to all shelters, except Oak Shelter at Black Hoof Park:
Resident - 1/2 day, $50
Resident - full day, $100

Nonresident - 1/2 day, $75
Nonresident - full day, $150

Oak Shelter at Black Hoof Park:
Resident - 1/2 day, $150
Resident - full day, $300

Nonresident - 1/2 day, $200

Nonresident - full day, $400

Alcohol policy

Only Lenexa residents who rent a shelter can apply for a beer permit (3.2 percent, cans only). The permit covers all guests at the shelter. A $15 alcohol permit fee and completed application form will be due at time of rental. Any reservation having 150 or more guests plus alcohol will be required to have a security officer on duty during the service of alcohol.

Cleaning policy

Following your event, please make sure your shelter is clean and cleared of trash on the tables or ground. Decorations must be taken down and removed or thrown away.

Cancellation policy
Refunds will be given on cancellations at least 30 days prior to reservation. Refunds will not be given for inclement weather. However, you may change your rental date if available.
