The Little Mill Creek Trail from the Lackman Road and 79th Street Intersection to the Little Mill Creek Park is the most heavily used trail in the Lenexa trail system by both pedestrians and cyclists. The trail has reached the end of its useful life as there are major cracks, heaves and heavily deteriorated sections. Typical maintenance strategies are no longer cost effective.
The Little Mill Creek Trail Replacement Project consists of removing and replacing 1.45 lane miles of trail network from Lackman Road to the Little Mill Creek Park with a 10-foot wide concrete trail.

Reconstruction work is planned to start in June 2024 and will be ongoing for the next couple of months. Work will include stormwater adjustments, trail removal, and the placement of a new concrete trail.
