Join us for the next Sunflower Poetry Slam and open mic night. Doors open at 6 p.m. (signup lists for both open mic and slam drop at 6 p.m. sharp; first come, first served). The open mic runs approximately 6:15–7 p.m., and the slam will follow. Admission and participation as a poet is $5 per person.
Open Mic: Bring your own poetry or read works by your favorite poets (maximum of 5 minutes on stage).
Poetry Slam: 10 poets compete for a $50 prize. Round 1: 10 poets; Round 2: 5 poets; Round 3: 3 poets. One winner will be selected.
-
Poets should come with three original pieces of their own writing. No props or costumes allowed – just you and your poetry.
-
For each round, your poem must be 3 minutes, 10 seconds – or less (participants will lose points for going over time).
-
Participants will be judged on a scale of 1-10 by five randomly chosen members of the audience. An official time and scorekeeper will be on site.
Both the open mic and slam will be hosted by Caroline Ewing. Not PSi-certified. All are welcome; parents may want to use discretion, as some content may include adult subject matter or strong language and not be family friendly.
