Lenexa Deputy City Administrator Todd Pelham received the Public Administrator of the Year Award for Local Government from the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration. Pelham, and nine others dedicated to public service, were recognized during the organization’s annual awards event on May 9, 2018.

After joining the City of Lenexa in 2014, Pelham served as the city’s project manager during construction of the Lenexa civic campus which opened last year. The civic campus is an innovative district which incorporates a new city hall, Lenexa Rec Center, Lenexa Public Market, outdoor gathering spaces and a 500-vehice parking garage. Other civic partners involved in the campus include the Johnson County Library, Park University and the Shawnee Mission School District. Pelham also directly supervises several city departments including Municipal Services, Parks & Recreation and Enterprise Systems and Technology.

“Todd is a dedicated public servant who cares deeply about our community,” said City Administrator Eric Wade. “He has made a tremendous impact on our organization and is very deserving of this award.”

Prior to his time with Lenexa, Pelham worked for the City of Blue Springs, Missouri, where he served as the deputy city administrator in charge of economic development. Before that, he worked for the Johnson County, Kansas, Manager’s Office and the Small Business Administration in the Office of Economic Research in Washington, D.C.
