Lenexa VisionFest is next week

Sept. 20, 2018, 7 to 9 p.m.

Lenexa civic campus, 17101 W. 87th St. Pkwy., Lenexa, KS 66219

More than 100 people who live and work in Lenexa have spent the last few months digging in to what makes people say, "I Like Lenexa!" They have been an integral part of setting the foundation for the Vision 2040 process.

And now, it's your turn!

Lenexa VisionFest is your opportunity to learn what Vision 2040 is all about and give your input on what you think is important for Lenexa over the next 20 years.

So, plan to attend, invite a few friends and make an evening of it!

What to expect

There's three big things to remember about this event:

  1. This event is come and go, so you can spend as little or as much time with us as you'd like.

  2. All ages are welcome! We are very excited about gathering input from everyone, and we have activities tailored to all generations.

  3. We value your input. Vision 2040 wouldn't be possible without hearing from as many people as possible, so your attendance is important to make this process the best it can be.

Activities

There will be a wide variety of activities for you and your family to participate in, including:

  • Interactive information stations, where you can learn about the work that has already been done surrounding the big themes in the Vision 2040 process and give your opinions. There will be booths focusing on making Lenexa a healthy community, creating inviting places (including Old Town), housing choice & vibrant neighborhoods, making Lenexa a Smart City and positioning us as an epicenter of innovation.

  • Kids activities to get their input, too. We value the opinions of all of our residents, even the little ones! Activities like giant Jenga and giant dice rolling will allow our youngest residents to tell us what they see in Lenexa's future.

  • A speaker to give you a high-level overview of what future trends are, what they mean and how they might impact Lenexa. (details below)

  • Free ice cream! That's right, we will have complimentary servings of ice cream as a sweet treat to thank you for coming.

  • Giveaways! You will have a paper passport that will guide you around the event, and if you complete the passport, you'll be entered to win some great prizes, like a Google Home, an Amazon Echo Spot and an OculusGO VR headset.

  • Games, balloon animals, a photo booth and lots of fun.In addition to learning a lot, we promise you and your family will have lots of fun helping us envision Lenexa in 2040.

World-renowned futurist will speak

Futurist Stephen Ames is the featured speaker at Lenexa VisionFest. He will speak twice during the event, at 7:15 and 8:15 p.m., in the Community Forum inside Lenexa City Hall.

Long-term trends will impact our community. Whether it is changes in technology, employment, financial markets or housing needs, future predictions can help position Lenexa for success.
