Renew alarm permits and pet licenses by Dec. 31

Renew alarm permits and pet licenses by Dec. 31
Posted on 11/16/2018

Do you have pets or an alarm system in Lenexa? If so, it's time to renew your license or permit for 2018. Each of these expires on Dec. 31 and must be renewed annually. You can save time by renewing online.

All dogs and cats over the age of six months must be licensed with the city. A pet license lets everyone know that your animal is not a stray, helps reunite a lost pet with its owner and allows the pet to receive emergency medical treatment from Animal Control officers if it is found hurt.

License fees are $12 per year for spayed and neutered dogs and cats or $22 per year for non-altered animals.

Special pet permits for housing more than two dogs and/or more than two cats also must be renewed by Dec. 31 each year to avoid late fees.

All business and residential alarm systems must be registered with the city. This allows emergency services to appropriately respond to alarms and helps reduce the number of false alarm calls.

There is no fee to apply for a permit each year. But you'll be charged a fine if the Police or Fire Department respond to a false alarm and discover that the activated system was not registered.
