The City of Lenexa is conducting a flood study to revise the limits of the floodplain on Flat Rock Creek near Flat Rock Creek Pool north to I-35. This study will change the extent of the floodplain slightly in that area.

PUBLIC NOTICE: The City of Lenexa, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the City’s intent to revise the flood hazard information, generally located along a tributary to Indian Creek, located north of 103rd Street and east of Pflumm Road. The flood hazard revisions are part of a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for a completed project along Indian Creek.

Specifically, the floodway for North Indian Creek will be revised from 250 feet downstream of I-35 to 400 feet upstream of West 103rd Street. As a result of the revision, the North Indian Creek floodway will narrow a maximum of 18 feet to the east (northeast side of Haskins Street cul-de-sac).In addition, the 1% annual chance water-surface elevations and the 1% annual chance floodplain shall be revised from 250 feet downstream of I-35 to 400 feet upstream of West 103rd Street

As a result of the revision, the 1% annual chance water-surface elevations shall decrease a maximum of 1.1 feet (near Haskins Street cul-de-sac) and increase a maximum of 0.8 feet (near West 102nd Street cul-de-sac) and the 1% annual chance floodplain shall widen and narrow within the area of revision with a maximum narrowing of 55 feet (downstream of I-35) and maximum widening of 140 feet (Noland Road) for North Indian Creek.

Maps of the revision can be reviewed upon request. If you have any questions or concerns about the proposed project or its effect on your property, you may contact Brent Johnson of Olsson at 913.381.1170 or bmjohnson@olsson.com.
