Lenexa Parks and Recreation department at workThe needs of a community can evolve over time. That’s why the City of Lenexa will undertake two important projects in 2020 to ensure its first-rate parks and diverse recreation programs continue to meet the needs of residents.
**Due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, these projects are currently on hold.**

Aquatics Study

A consultant recently evaluated the City’s existing aquatics facilities and suggested ways to modernize these facilities as well as create a sustainable outdoor aquatics plan. The final report echoed an earlier recommendation to close Ad Astra Pool, however the City Council opted to keep this pool open another year while it engages the public about the right mix of aquatics amenities for Lenexa — including plans for Ad Astra.

Parks & Rec Master Plan

First adopted in 2012, this plan identified a long-term vision and identified priority needs for capital improvements, park amenities and program offerings. Many of those ideas have since become a reality. Now, it’s time to update that plan for the next decade.

Both the aquatics study and master plan will be rooted in public input. Watch for opportunities to participate, including public meetings and surveys. Your input will ensure the City continues to offer top-quality amenities and programs for public use and enjoyment.
