Improvements coming to intersection near Old Town

The City of Lenexa is preparing to begin improvements designed to enhance safety and access at the intersection of 95th Street and Santa Fe Trail Drive.

Utility companies are nearing completion of their relocations, which will allow the City’s contractor – Mega Industries to begin work. Construction is expected to continue through the summer and fall. This schedule is subject to change due to the evolving impacts of COVID-19 in our community.

The project will include:

  • A new traffic signal
  • A monument sign
  • Several new turn lanes
  • Accessible pedestrian modifications
  • A trail extension
  • Mill and overlay
  • Improved storm drainage
  • Street lighting improvements

While the City’s main goal for this project is to improve traffic flow and safety at this intersection, our other objective is to minimize the effects of the construction wherever possible.
