COVID-19 expected to impact 2021 Budget

COVID-19 pandemic expected to impact 2021 City Budget
Posted on 06/24/2020

The 2021 Recommended Budget is ready for review by the Lenexa Governing Body and the public

The COVID-19 pandemic is expected to have a major impact on revenues for fiscal years 2020 and 2021. Through this budget process, City staff are recommending the use of reserves and other short-term measures to mitigate the financial impact. At this time, it is anticipated that services and staffing will remain consistent in 2021.

A budget review session was held June 30 at Lenexa City Hall. During this session, the Council received an overview of the proposed budget and potential revenue impacts for 2021.

Those interested in providing feedback on the budget can do so at a public hearing set for July 21 at 7 p.m. during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at Lenexa City Hall.

The City Council will consider approving the budget at an August meeting.

Questions or comments about the budget can be directed to [email protected] or Chief Financial Officer Doug Robinson at 913.477.7500.
