Learn Lenexa history at Legler Barn Museum.
Many people, places and events shaped the Lenexa we know and love today. Visit and tour Legler Barn Museum, Lenexa’s history museum and archive, located within Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park. Guided tours are provided by trained City staff and Lenexa Historical Society volunteers. On a time crunch? Watch these Lenexa history videos instead.

Make a splash at an outdoor pool.
Outdoor pool memberships are available to residents and nonresidents. New pool memberships can be purchased at the Lenexa Rec Center Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. –6 p.m. We also offer day passes for single use.
Indian Trails Aquatic Center (8801 Greenway Ln. in Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park): Open daily from noon to 8 p.m. through Aug. 1. Remains open through Sept. 6 with reduced hours.
Ad Astra Pool (8625 Maurer Rd.) Open Monday –Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.; Sunday at noon to 6 p.m. Last day is Aug. 1.
Flat Rock Creek Pool (13120 W. 103rd St.): Opens Saturday, June 12. Open daily from noon to 8 p.m. through Aug. 1.

Pick up a summer reading log, visit the kids’ area and enjoy the outdoor balcony and its civic campus views. In a hurry? Try the drive-thru window. Have more time? Combine it with a visit to the Lenexa Farmers Market or Public Market. Library hours and resources.

Pick up produce and products from the Lenexa Farmers Market.
Find fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, baked goods, flowers, body care products and more. Make it educational. Ask your kids to name the vegetables they see and even chat with the farmer to learn about their growing practices. The Market frequently features live music and artists.
Open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon on the Lenexa civic campus, 17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy.
Looking for an upcoming date night idea? Enjoy an amazing dinner that unites two culinary gems at our Progressive Dinner on July 18. Lenexa Farmers Market vendors will supply the ingredients, and Lenexa Public Market merchants will prepare those ingredients in a special, one-night-only menu.

Playground Passport.
Visit each of the 27 Lenexa playgrounds listed on the Playground Passport, and look for signs that list a letter and a number specific to that park. After your kiddo solves the puzzle and turns in their completed Playground Passport, they will receive a prize and be entered in a drawing to win a $100, $50, or $25 gift card to a sporting goods store.

The arts are a valuable part of making our community a culturally vibrant place to live. That’s why we offer a wide range of arts programming and public art exhibits throughout the year. This summer, encourage your students to get involved in making art or visiting sculptures in Lenexa.
Love Lenexa and art? Create a work of art in any medium, inspired by something you love about Lenexa, for the HeART of Lenexa Contest. This can be anything from your favorite park, school, trail, neighborhood business, location or even your own backyard. Entry categories and contest rules.
Want to amplify your creative writing strengths? Join our Sunflower Writers Workshop, led by Poet Jen Harris, on Zoom on the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m.

Paws in the Pool

Keep Lenexa beautiful. Sign up to host a stream cleanup. We provide the supplies. You and your group walk the length of a stream or river, collect trash and record information about the quantity and types of garbage removed.
