When you’re 6 years old and diagnosed with cancer, a cool and fun bandage can bring a smile to your face. Noah Wilson knew that. Diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma at age 6, he grew tired of the boring brown bandages that covered his pokes each day. He decided to make a difference.
Noah’s Bandage Project collects colorful bandages for kids and raises awareness and money for childhood cancer. To Noah, a bandage was a badge of courage, an identity and just something fun. Noah passed away in 2015 but his project continues to bring joy to kids undergoing medical treatments.
During June 2022, The City of Lenexa’s We Care Committee is collecting boxes of cool, fun bandages at any of these Lenexa locations:
- Indian Trails Aquatic Center
- Ad Astra Pool
- Flat Rock Creek Pool
- Lenexa City Hall
- Lenexa Rec Center
- Police Station (Public Safety Complex)
- Lenexa Community Center
- Lenexa Senior Center
- Municipal Services Service Center
- Fire Station No. 3
You can also donate $2, the cost of one box of bandages. All money raised goes to pediatric cancer research. Cash and checks (made out to Noah’s Bandage Project) accepted. Or you can donate money online.
The City of Lenexa’s We Care Committee is made up of representatives from each City department. The group organizes events and campaigns throughout the year to support area nonprofit organizations.
