It’s your turn to vote on a new name for Indian Trails Aquatic Center at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park.
Earlier this summer, the City of Lenexa invited the public to suggest pool names for consideration. After sifting through hundreds of submissions and noting frequently used words, City staff narrowed the list to three choices:
- Lenexa Splash at Sar-Ko-Par Trails
- Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center
- Sar-Ko-Par Splash Aquatic Center
How to participate
Visit Lenexa.com/PoolName to vote for your preferred name for Lenexa’s most-visited outdoor aquatics facility. The poll closes Oct. 24, 2022. The option that receives the most community votes will become the pool’s new name.

Why the name change?
Indian Trails Aquatic Center is being renamed as part of an exciting major renovation and rebranding project that kicks off in early 2023. The pool will be closed through spring 2024 so we can update the aging facility and add new amenities, including a lazy river, slides, family restrooms and more.
The name Indian Trails Aquatic Center is a holdover from before the neighboring Sar-Ko-Par and Indian Trails parks were combined into one larger park in the mid-1980s. The aquatic center was originally part of Indian Trails Park. But today people often refer to the facility as “Sar-Ko Pool.”

More park improvements
In addition to the outdoor pool upgrades, there are other enhancements coming soon to the east side of Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park. The City also plans to:
- Open a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under 87th Street Parkway to connect the park to trails to the north.
- Rebuild the aging skate park, starting in 2023.
- Expand parking capacity.
- Add more trail and sidewalk connections.
