Celebrate Lenexa City Center during September to Remember

Posted on 08/31/2017
September to Remember

City staff is all moved in, the buildings are open, and we are ready to celebrate! Join us for a month-long celebration of the generational investment of the Lenexa civic campus, September to Remember.

September to Remember highlights the variety of uses and activities available at the civic campus and at Lenexa City Center. City Center is a mixed-use neighborhood comprised of all four corners of 87th Street Parkway and Renner Boulevard. It features residential, commercial, retail, restaurant and civic components, including the Lenexa civic campus.

Events

The month begins with the opening of the Lenexa Public Market on Sept. 1 and builds from there. You can see the full schedule at Lenexa.com/September, but here are a few highlights to look forward to:

  • Grand Party & Ice Cream Social: In recognition of National Grandparent’s Day, families will be treated to a fun-filled day in Lenexa. Enjoy great entertainment and free ice cream from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10. Presented by Copaken Brooks and The Fairways at City Center

  • LenEXPO: Meet Lenexa employees and discover what they do for Lenexa residents. Kids will be able to "touch a truck" and meet police officers and firefighters. There will be live entertainment, games and other fun for families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16. Presented by Park University

  • City Center Celebration & Food Truck Frenzy: This event will have it all – live music, entertainment, food trucks and fireworks. The fun lasts from 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 23. Presented by JE Dunn and CCS Presentation Systems.

Passport to City Center

One way we are celebrating Lenexa City Center is through the Passport to City Center. The program encourages you to visit various businesses and locations in City Center during the month of September to receive a stamp. If you receive 15 or more stamps and return your passport to the City of Lenexa by 5 p.m. Oct. 5, you will be eligible to win one of more than $3,000 in prizes, donated by our partners and sponsors.

Pick up your passport beginning Aug. 25 at Lenexa City Hall or the Lenexa Rec Center.
