Lenexa’s skate park relocation and reconstruction was identified as part of the Parks Master Plan and has been a high-priority project for many years.
The current skate park is over 20 years old and the surface has deteriorated significantly. The parking lot that serves this skate park, tennis courts and roller hockey rink is set up poorly and has limited capacity. This project will reconfigure the lot to accommodate more parking stalls, better traffic flow, and safer pedestrian movements.
The skate park’s new design will be driven by community input to meet a wide range of recreational level usage. It will provide a safe environment for people of all ages and abilities to meet and share experiences through action sports (skateboarding, BMX, scooters, wheelchairs and inline skating). The skate park design may also pay tribute to Rolling Magic, a skate park located in Lenexa during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Whether you're ready to kick-flip, grind, grab or just ride, Lenexa’s reconstructed skate park will be ready by fall 2023.
