Craig Denny was elected Ward 4 council member in November 2021.
Craig joined Terracon in 1973 and moved from Iowa to Lenexa in 1985 to be Chief Engineer in their growing Lenexa office. In 2020, he retired from Terracon as Senior Principal and Senior Engineering Consultant after a 47-year career.
He has served and led several community-based organizations during the past 30-plus years. In 1994 he was inducted to the Lenexa Volunteer Hall of Fame. That same year he was appointed to Lenexa’s Parks & Recreation Board where he served as chairman 10 times. In 1997 he was elected to the Shawnee Mission Board of Education. Craig was reelected four more times serving as president and vice president numerous times.
In 2005 he spearheaded Lenexa’s 100th Anniversary celebration and in 2007 he co-led Lenexa’s Vision 2030 campaign. He has been an active member of the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce since 1990 and elected chairman in 2008.
Craig, a U.S. Army veteran, holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University and a PhD from the University of Kansas. He has received many honors and awards for his professional work, community service and philanthropy.
