Improvements begin at Prairie Star Parkway and K-7
Posted on 07/22/2021

Work started July 26, 2021, on a series of improvements to the Prairie Star Parkway and Kansas Highway 7 interchange.

The improvements planned for the K-7/Prairie Star Parkway interchange include:

  • Replacement of the bridge approaches on Prairie Star Parkway over K-7.
  • New traffic signals on Prairie Star Parkway at the ramp terminals to northbound and southbound K-7.
  • Northbound and southbound K-7 exit ramp widening and realignment.
  • A new median on Prairie Star Parkway at Hedge Lane.
  • Removal of the Hedge Lane connection on the north side of Prairie Star Parkway.
  • Mill and overlay from Hedge Lane to 500 feet east of Monticello Terrace.

This project was selected to receive $1.2 million in Access Management Construction Project Program funding from the Kansas Department of Transportation. The improvements will enable the interchange to operate more efficiently in the interim while the City waits for funding to become available to reconstruct the entire interchange.
