Exercise is good for our bodies and minds, but it can be hard to keep the habit going on our own. Recruit a workout buddy to hit the gym with you, and you’ll both reap the rewards.

Get a gym membership discount

For current members

Lenexa Rec Center members are encouraged to refer a friend to join the Rec Center between Dec. 19, 2022–Jan. 29, 2023. When the friend provides the member’s name during the signup process, both people will get 50% off one month of membership.

Members who recruit two friends to join during that six-week window will earn one FREE month of membership.

NOTE: The billing date for the discounted month of membership is Feb. 20, 2023. A maximum of two referrals is allowed per current membership during this discount offer period.

For prospective members

The Lenexa Rec Center is home to a vibrant community that supports your wellness journey. Our 100,000-square-foot facility features cutting-edge fitness equipment, an indoor pool, group fitness classes, a 1/6-mile jogging/walking track, multiple gyms, plus services and recreation programs for all ages.

Prospective members can visit the Lenexa Rec Center welcome desk anytime to take a tour and learn about membership levels. To be eligible for the 50% discount on one month of membership, sign up in person as a new member between Dec. 19, 2022–Jan. 29, 2023. Be sure to identify the friend who referred you.

NOTE: The billing date for the discounted month of membership is Feb. 20, 2023. Lenexa Rec Center has no initiation, application, maintenance or cancellation fees.

Other reasons to enlist a workout buddy

Beyond the discounted membership, there are other benefits to exercising with a friend:

  • It’s more fun. You’re less likely to get bored when bonding with a workout pal.
  • You’ll feel more motivated. When you and your buddy encourage each other, you’ll push harder and get better results.
  • You’ll be more adventurous. It’s easier to try new things with a friend, and two people have a wider array of options than a solo workout.
  • You’re more likely to stay consistent. When someone else is counting on you to show up, you won’t want to let them down.
