The City of Lenexa receives funding through the federal Community Development Block Grant to benefit low-to-moderate-income households and support decent housing, suitable living environments and expanded economic opportunities.

The city has drafted an Annual Action Plan that describes how we plan to use a $232,946 allocation for federal fiscal year 2018 (Oct. 1, 2018–Sept. 30, 2019) for the following programs and projects:
  • Housing rehabilitation ($65,000) – Assist low-to-moderate-income homeowners with exterior repairs through the Minor Home Repair Program.

  • Community facilities ($360,000) – Conduct a feasibility study for repurposing the existing Lenexa Community Center to accommodate senior activities, and making ADA upgrades.

  • Public Services ($25,000) – Maintain a recreation scholarship program to benefit lower-to-middle-income households.

  • Administration ($22,000) – Manage, monitor and report on all of the city's Community Development Block Grant projects.
