
The Lenexa Police Department is hosting an informational class for citizens on the topic of police use of force. This four-hour class will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to noon. at the Lenexa Police Department, 12500 W. 87th Street Pkwy. The following topics will be discussed during the class:
- Legality and case law pertaining to police use of force
- Internal investigation process when force is used by Lenexa police
- The different force options and how they are applied
- How Lenexa officers are trained and equipped to use force
- Discuss the science of police and human performance under stress; and the naturally occurring limitations of the mind and body response.
Participants will also have the opportunity to go through realistic scenarios; followed by class discussion of how the scenarios were handled - along with the participants reflection on their thoughts/feelings about the scenarios.
There is no charge to attend, but class size will be limited. Participants must be residents of Johnson County, Kansas and at least 18 years of age.
