Has your teen expressed an interest in law enforcement as a career? If so, the Lenexa Police Department's popular Youth Police Academy may be an exciting option this summer. This free, interactive program covers many topics, from patrol procedures to evidence collection. It promotes a greater understanding between our community's youth and the Lenexa Police Department and helps students develop skills to keep themselves safe from danger.
There are two week-long Youth Police Academy sessions to choose from:
-
Session 1: June 5-9, 2017
-
Session 2: June 12-16, 2017
The academy meets from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. every day. Participants must be age 13 to 17 and live or attend school in Lenexa, or have a parent/guardian working in Lenexa. The youth must have a minimal record of school discipline and limited prior police and criminal contact.
