Lifeguard (Outdoor/Indoor)

Lifeguards are responsible for the overall daily operation of the City’s swimming pools including the supervision of pool patrons, maintaining training standards, daily pool maintenance and operational activities, and record keeping.

Starting pay rate: $14 per hour
Minimum age to apply: 15 years old

Swim Lessons Instructor (Outdoor/Indoor)

Swim Lessons Instructors are responsible for day-to-day instruction and operation of aquatic lessons, including the swim lesson programs at Ad Astra Aquatic Center, Flat Rock Creek Aquatic Center and the Lenexa Rec Center. This includes instructing, coordinating activities, evaluating progress, and handling delegated administrative duties. This position maintains and improves aquatic programs, while creating and maintaining public awareness on water safety, and resolving participant and patron issues.

Starting pay rate: $15 to $16.56 per hour, depending on qualifications and/or directly related experience
Minimum age to apply: 16 years old

Pool Cashier (Outdoor Pools)

Pool Cashiers are responsible for customer service and greeting customers, admitting pool patrons into the pool, and waiting on pool patrons at the concession stand, including preparing and serving requested food and beverage orders. Responsibilities include, collecting fees, operating a cash register and food preparation devices, making change, answering the phone, keeping the aquatic facility clean and organized, and safe and proper handling of food items and supplies.

Starting pay rate: $10 per hour

Camp Counselor

Camp Counselors are responsible for helping develop, implement and facilitate our summer camp program. They help initiate, lead and oversee various daily activities while actively engaged with children. The Camp Counselor will have the ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels. They will also have the desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.

Starting pay rate: $14 per hour, depending on qualifications and/or directly related experience
Minimum age to apply: 16 years old

Head Camp Counselor

The Head Camp Counselor is responsible for helping in developing, implementing, and facilitating Recreation Division’s summer camp program within a specific group. They help initiate, lead and oversee various daily activities. The Head Camp Counselor will have the ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels, while maintaining a lead role within camp. They will also have the desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.

Starting pay rate: $15.50 to $17.12 per hour, depending on qualifications and/or directly related experience
