Carrie Georges sells Dipstick dip mixesCarrie Georges has been making spice blend dipsticks for 18 years. Ten years ago she got serious, installed a commercial kitchen and took her dipsticks to market.

Carrie grew up cooking. She had an Italian grandmother, so there was always food around. Carrie learned most of her cooking from her mom, including how to make dips. Years ago, Carrie went to a home spice party and fell in love with the beer bread mix. She figured she could make her own and that’s what she did.

She soon started selling her beer bread mix at a local farmers market and at the Lenexa Spinach Festival. That was the start of Carrie Lynn Concepts. She needed something to go with her beer bread, which is when dip mixes entered the picture.

In the beginning, Carrie had basic packaging for her Dipstick dip mixes. Then, one night in her sleep, the idea came to her to put her dip mixes in sticks. (Carrie says all her great ideas come to her while sleeping.) The straw-like packaging makes the spice mixes easy to dispense and use.

Carrie makes her mixes in small batches for quality and freshness. She has eight flavors: fiesta, jalapeño, spinach, onion dill, onion garlic, salsa, pesto and sun-dried tomato basil. One stick mixes with one cup of sour cream for a perfectly flavored dip.

In addition to making dips, Carrie has several recipes to use her spice sticks. Carrie also offers her Dipsticks for fundraisers. You can find Carrie’s vendor booth on Tuesdays at the Lenexa Farmers Market.
