Meet the vendor: GEO Pressed Juice and Wellness

Adam Bailey interacting with shoppers at Farmers Market vendor boothGEO Pressed Juice and Wellness joined the Lenexa Farmers Market mid-season with fresh, cold-pressed juices. The business focuses on utilizing nutritional insights to create wellness shots, milks, coffees, juice reboots and bite-sized eatables.

Owner Adam Bailey grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he attended high school and started college playing baseball. Adam transferred to Nebraska and, after graduating with a degree in psychology, he was drafted by Minor League Baseball. He played for the Houston Astros for three years before becoming an independent, where he played three additional years.

During the off season, Adam would come to Kansas City where his wife, Mariah, was working. Mariah had found a little juice shop (Simple Juice) that was just starting up, which she told Adam about. He met the owners and was hired to help. Between Mariah and the juice shop, Adam learned more about nutrition. When the small juice shop went out of business, Adam bought their equipment, leased the location and opened his own juice shop, called GEO Juice and Wellness. The name comes from his interest in sacred geometry.

Adam uses largely organic produce in his juices, based on the Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen list of fruits and vegetables that contain the highest concentrations of pesticides, which the EWG recommends buying organic. Their Clean Fifteen list identifies fruits and vegetables that have the fewest concentrations of pesticides and are the safest to buy conventionally. Adam juices daily using a cold-press method. Unlike home juicing machines that create heat, lots of foam and start the oxidation of the juice, Adam’s machine creates no heat, which gives his juices a five-day shelf life.

The flavors are named after geometric shapes. Each 8-ounce bottle of juice has 2.5 pounds of juiced fruits and vegetables. Adam brings a different assortment to the Lenexa Farmers Market each Saturday and always has samples. He also offers a selection of Lucky Elixir Kombucha.

When Adam is creating new flavors, he considers the health benefits of each product and how he can combine the ingredients to taste great together. On Sept. 23, 2019, GEO Juice and Wellness will debut a new fall juice featuring pears, Honeycrisp apples, butternut squash, turmeric and maple syrup. Adam is also working on cashew-nutmeg milk for the fall.

All the juices Adam creates are free of added preservatives and sugars. His juice is never pasteurized, ensuring that almost all nutrients and beneficial bacteria remain intact. Juicing can transform your body and taste buds and provide the nutrients you need to begin healing from within. Potential health benefits of juicing include better sleep, less brain fog, more energy, minimized cravings and detoxing the body.

Adam’s favorite part of the business is meeting people and hearing stories of how his juice has transformed their lives and health. He also really enjoys peeling the sweet potatoes for some of his juices. While Adam no longer plays baseball, you can find him teaching hitting lessons every Thursday evening at D-BAT in Lenexa.

Visit with Adam Bailey at the GEO Juice and Wellness vendor booth on Saturdays at the Lenexa Farmers Market.
