Two Dizzy Chicks Hummus joins the Lenexa Farmers Market as a vendor starting with the Holiday Farmers Market on Dec. 17, 2022. They will offer savory and sweet flavors of handcrafted hummus — some with a twist you didn’t see coming.

Hummus is popular and versatile Middle Eastern spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans). It’s typically blended with tahini, lemon juice and spices into a thick paste. Two Dizzy Chicks Hummus products are made from scratch using chickpeas and other non-GMO, vegetarian, gluten-free and plant-based ingredients.

Look for Classic, Cranberry Jalapeño and Pumpkin Pie, among other “creatively disrupted” flavors Two Dizzy Chicks will introduce later. Beyond hummus, you can also try their creamy tomato orzo soup and falafel sandwiches at the Market, or take some home to make your shopping weekend even easier.

We caught up with Two Dizzy Chicks Hummus in their kitchen as they were preparing a batch of hummus and tangy tomato orzo soup. The air was filled with the aroma of roasting tomatoes, onions and garlic as Diana and Linda explained how they got started.

After hitting it off at a dinner party, the two decided to meet for coffee. During their four-hour coffee visit, a business partnership was born. Both Diana and Linda were looking for opportunities to get into the food industry, as they both love cooking and Linda has prior restaurant ownership experience.

When you get a chance to meet them, you will find that Diana and Linda are always talking about delicious flavor combinations. In fact, their husbands remind them over shared dinners that “there is more to talk about than hummus.”

Most days, Diana can be found in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes or cooking for her family, which brings her joy. Linda enjoys cooking too, but she also has strong business skills and likes taking care of those details. Both relish getting to know their customers and appreciate the feedback they have received.

Many customers use hummus in ways beyond the typical dip presentation. Different flavors are great on a salad as a high-protein dressing replacement, or as a spread on a sandwich or toast.

The Two Dizzy Chicks Hummus menu will transition with the seasons. As they continue into the Lenexa Farmers Market’s regular outdoor season, Diana and Linda look forward to partnering with farmers in order to highlight the flavors of locally grown produce.
