Justice Center Community Room set up classroom-style

The Community Room in the Lenexa Justice Center is intended to provide meeting space for Lenexa residents, government agencies and nonprofit groups for educational, cultural, intellectual, recreational or charitable activities. This venue is near the lobby entrance and is a great space for hosting public events, trainings and workshops.

The Community Room is not intended for private commercial business use. Soliciting, lobbying, fundraisers, auctions, sales, displaying, advertising, or leasing any article or services are not permitted.

The Lenexa Justice Center is located at the southwest corner of Prairie Star Parkway and Britton Street.

Reservation hours and fees

Daily: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Minimum reservation duration is two hours, and maximum reservation duration is eight hours. Scheduled time must include preparation and cleanup time.

Reservation includes setup of tables and chairs, technology, amenities and on-site volunteer staff.

No fees are charged for the use of the Community Room. However, donations to the City of Lenexa Foundation - Police Public Safety Fund are accepted.


How to reserve the room

Submit a reservation request

Police Department staff will reach out to you within three business days of receiving your interest form submittal.

Reservation policies

  • All reservations need at least 48 hours to confirm availability.
  • No same-day reservations are available.
  • Requests for dates that are less than 15 days out are not guaranteed.
  • Reservations can be made up to three months in advance, on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Reservations will be honored up to 15 minutes past the reservation start time.
  • The Police Department will not accept standing reservations. Organizations can reserve the Community Room once every three months.
  • Availability of the Community Room can vary depending on the availability of Police Department volunteers for staffing.
  • A signed Facility User Agreement(PDF, 227KB) is required.

General rules for use of Community Room

  • Please check in and out with Police Department volunteer staff.
  • Users are responsible for setup and cleanup of the Community Room. All areas and facilities must be left in the condition in which they were found. 
  • Nothing is to be used to hang or fasten items to the windows, walls, doors or ceilings.
  • The use of alcohol is prohibited.
  • Tobacco use is only allowed in designated areas.
  • No amplified music.
  • The user will pay for any damage to the facility.
  • No pets are allowed, with the exception of those used for personal assistance.
  • Lenexa Justice Center Tours are not part of the reservation but may be available at a later time upon request.
  • The City reserves the right to cancel any reservation due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstances with as much advance notice as possible.
  • Unless prior arrangements have been made with the Police Department, the use and reservation of the Lenexa Justice Center Community Room does not include the presence of a police officer, or any other on-site security dedicated to the reservation period.
