The 2026 Recommended Budget includes a property tax rate reduction of one-half mill, the City's eighth consecutive property tax rate decrease.

Timeline
June 24, 2025: City staff will present an overview of the 2026 Recommended Budget to the mayor and city council during a Committee of the Whole meeting at 7 p.m. No formal action will be taken.
Late June 2025: City Manager Beccy Yocham and Chief Financial Officer Nate Blum explain how City leaders developed the 2026 Recommended Budget and share highlights in a recorded presentation that will be available online.
July 8, 2025: The mayor and city council will hold a second budget review session to consider individual department budgets during a Committee of the Whole meeting at 7 p.m. No formal action will be taken.
August 2025: Johnson County mails estimated tax notices to all property owners. These include information on public hearing dates, proposed property tax rate changes, and estimates for your future property tax amounts.
Sept. 2, 2025: Give in-person feedback during two public hearings at the Lenexa City Council meeting at 7 p.m. One hearing is on the City's intent to exceed the revenue neutral rate. The other is on the 2026 Recommended Budget. The city council will then vote on a resolution to approve the 2026 Budget.
