Meet the Farmers Market staff: Ava Wiebe
Published on July 01, 2025
Ava Wiebe has joined the Lenexa Farmers Market family as a market attendant on Saturdays. On weekdays, she also works as a summer camp counselor for Lenexa Parks & Recreation. She is also enrolled in culinary school through Johnson County Community College. We asked Ava some questions about her experience so far.
Why did you want to be part of the Lenexa Farmer's Market?
It will help me in the future if I want to have a bakery. I can see what the other bakeries are doing at the Market to give me ideas.
What has been most rewarding about working at the Farmers Market?
I like being able to meet new people and get to see what everyone has to offer at their booths.
What really makes your day at the Farmers Market?
I like getting to see the kids find the stuffed ladybug and come back to us and get a little prize.
What’s something people don’t realize goes into making the Farmers Market happen each week?
People don’t realize how much time and effort goes into setting it up and taking it down. It is very fun and a lot of hard work, but it is definitely rewarding.
Describe the Farmers Market in three words.
Fun, busy and exciting.
What do you hope people take away from their visit to the Farmers Market?
That anyone can sell or buy anything, it is only limited to your imagination.
If the Farmers Market had a blooper reel, what moment would be on it?
Probably when Farmers Market Attendant Tom disappears and comes back with different food for us to try.
What are your current favorite foods or products at the Market?
I really like the Kukiss Bakery because they have different things every week and are super popular.
What’s something you want to try at the Farmers Market, but haven’t yet?
I want to try the salsa booth. I like salsa and I’ve heard it’s really good.
What do you like to do when you are not at the Farmers Market?
I like to read and go thrifting.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I played trombone in elementary through high school for seven years.
