Voters elect three incumbents, one new member to City Council

Residents made their voices heard at the ballot box on Nov. 4, 2025, selecting leaders who will represent them on Lenexa City Council for the next term. According to official results from the Johnson County Election Office, three incumbents and one newcomer won City Council seats:
- John Michael Handley will serve his first elected term as a Ward 1 council member after being appointed to the position in January.
- Bill Nicks was reelected to his Ward 1 council member seat, which he has held since 2017.
- Avery Bell was elected to his first term as a Ward 3 council member, replacing Melanie Arroyo, who did not seek reelection.
- Craig Denny ran unopposed and will serve a second term as a Ward 4 council member.
Lenexa’s newly elected council members will be sworn in to office at the Dec. 2 City Council meeting.
About the City Council
Each of Lenexa’s four City Council wards is represented by two elected members, who serve four-year terms. One seat in each ward is up for election every other year. Find your council member
The Lenexa City Council holds meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Community Forum at Lenexa City Hall. The Council often holds Committee of the Whole meetings or work sessions on the second or fourth Tuesday of each month. These meetings are for discussion purposes only — no action can be taken.
