103rd Street bridge replacement begins in early August

Beginning Aug. 3, 2026, 103rd Street will be closed at the Flat Rock Creek bridge, just east of Flat Rock Creek Pool at Noland Road. The bridge has reached end of life, and the City of Lenexa — in collaboration with the City of Overland Park — will replace it with a larger bridge structure, featuring a wider driving surface, expanded sidewalks, and new curbs and gutters. The road will remain closed for approximately four months, pending weather conditions.
The vehicle detour for eastbound traffic will route from Pflumm Road to Lenexa Drive, to 99th Street to Rosehill Road. The detour is the same in reverse for westbound traffic. There will be a pedestrian detour looping north of the bridge along the trail. Residents will still have access Flat Rock Creek Park tennis courts and pool for the remaining pool season. The parking lot just west of the bridge will have limited parking; the pool parking lot will remain fully open. Trash service and bus lines will be notified of the closure, and services will remain available.
