The need

The asphalt surrounding the roundabouts on Clare Road between 83rd Street and Prairie Star Parkway are experiencing premature deterioration from heavy turning movements and stop-and-go traffic, resulting in ongoing maintenance needs.

The improvements

In the Clare Road Infrastructure Improvements Project, the City of Lenexa is investing in a more durable, long-term solution by:

  • Reconstructing the pavement portion of the roundabouts, replacing asphalt with concrete.
  • Repaving the remaining asphalt portions of Clare Road outside of the roundabouts.
  • Upgrading the east-side sidewalk to a 10-foot trail connecting Prairie Star Parkway to Wild Bill Hickok Park.
  • Repairing curb, sidewalk and brick pavers as necessary.

Project open house

City staff and consultant Walter P Moore are finalizing plans and coordinating with utilities.

Attend a public open house on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Join us to learn more about the project design, construction phasing and schedule. This is a come-and-go event. There will be no formal presentation.
