Recreation Program Registration

There are multiple ways to register for a Lenexa Parks & Recreation program. Some programs may require in-person registration.

How to register for a program

Online

Here's how to use Lenexa Parks & Recreation's online registration system (WebTrac) to register for programs, rent facilities, renew memberships, or check balances and visits.

Step 1.Set up an account.

You must create a Household account to register for recreation programs or rent facilities. A Household is anyone living in the same household. Those 18 years and older must show proof of residency.

Lenexa residents will need to show proof of residency (photo ID with current address and current utility bill or official government document) before the resident rate is activated.

Visit Lenexa.com/GetActive

  • For desktop/laptop users, select "Sign In/Register" under My Account in the top menu bar. For phone/tablet users, click the three lines (hamburger symbol) in the upper left corner to open the menu. Select "Sign In/Register" under My Account.
    1. For new users, select "Click here to create an account." Fill out all required fields.

    2. Enter yourself (must be 18 or older) as the Primary Person.

    3. Click the Add New Member button if you are registering additional family or household members. You must add them before clicking "Save."

Please note: our programs and rentals often have age-specific requirements, so the date of birth must be entered for the person registering or renting.

  • Click "Save" when done.

You are now ready to register for programs, renew memberships and view availability or rent facilities online.

Step 2.Search for a program.

To search for an item, select the appropriate subject images on the homepage and again on the next menu page. For example, "Youth" then "Sports/Fitness."

On desktop/laptop, use the fields on the left side of the page to search by Activity Number (found in the Lenexa TownTalk), Keyword, Type, Age, etc. On phone/tablet, click on the green filter icon in the upper right corner to search by Activity Number (found in the Lenexa TownTalk), Keyword, Type, Age, etc.

Click the "Search" button.

Step 3.Add selection to cart.

Review the description, dates, pricing and location information before adding a selection to the list. Once all items have been added to the list, click the "Selected Items" button, and click "Add to Cart."

Step 4.Finalize registration.

Proceed through the checkout process, where you will pay in full.

Registration and cancellation policies

Waitlist

Participants who wish to register for programs where capacity enrollment has been reached will go on a waitlist. If space becomes available, we will notify you.

Cancellation policy

All cancellations will be determined two business days before the program is scheduled to begin. All registrations are required before the 48-hour deadline. You'll be notified if a program has been canceled or changed.

Inclement weather policy

Check cancellation notification line

We reserve the right to cancel programs and special events or close facilities in the event of inclement weather (snow, extremely cold temperatures, excessive heat, rain, lightening) or other emergency situations. The decision to cancel programs and close facilities is made by the Parks & Recreation director or designated staff.

  • If the Shawnee Mission School District cancels for weather-related reasons before the school day begins, we will cancel recreation programs until noon the same day. We will make the decision whether to cancel afternoon/evening programs by 11 a.m.

  • If the Shawnee Mission School District cancels during the day, we will make decide whether to continue or cancel programs for that day by 3 p.m.

  • On weekends and during the summertime, we will decide whether to cancel programs or facilities at least 30 minutes before a program or event begins.

  • For our pools, if inclement weather prevents us from safely opening the pools at noon, we will attempt to open them at 4 p.m. that day. If inclement weather continues to prevent us from safely opening Ad Astra and Flat Rock Creek pools at 4 p.m., they will remain closed for the day. We will continue to try to open Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center, if possible.

  • We may cancel or modify senior programs based on cold temperatures, icy roadways or other factors. (If Johnson County Nutrition Services cancels, meals will not be served that day.)

If we cancel programs due to weather, we will try to reschedule them if possible. If we do not reschedule, we will refund any registration fees in accordance with our refund policy.

  • We do not issue refunds for certain special events.

  • If our facilities are open and we make the decision to continue with programs, we will not issue a refund if you choose not to attend because of weather-related circumstances.

Program refund policy

If you need to cancel your registration to an event or program, please call 913.477.7100 at least five business days before the program begins.

  • We will only issue a refund if your cancellation does not affect the minimum number of required participants in the program.
  • There will be a $5 processing fee.
  • Refunds generally take three to six weeks.

Some trips and programs require advance notice and have their own individual cancellation policies.

Trip refund policy

Because there are advance payment requirements on many of our trips, we may not be able to issue you a refund. To request a refund, please do as soon as possible. We will issue refunds if:

  • We cancel the trip.

  • We can fill your spot with a new traveler before the registration deadline ($5 processing fee applies).

You may purchase trip insurance for trips with overnight stays. Please contact the trip coordinator at least 60 days before your trip for fees and information.

If you are deemed harmful to yourself, others or the trip quality, we reserve the right to remove you from the trip with transportation home at your expense. We reserve the right to make changes necessary to preserve the integrity of our trips.

ADA accommodations

The City of Lenexa is committed to making reasonable accommodations for people who have disabilities, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. You must make a request for accommodations at least 10 business days before a program or activity.
