Fire Tours, Visits & Presentations

Fire station tours

We welcome visitors to our facilities for station tours where you can learn about fire safety, tour the fire trucks, and see the equipment we use.

While our fire stations are staffed around the clock and guests are welcome any time, we can make your tour the best it can be if you schedule ahead. This allows us to plan age-appropriate activities.

Community event visits

Our firefighters are also available to visit community events like block parties, corporate events, and corporate or organizational safety fairs. These visits are scheduled on a case-by-case basis and are attended by on-duty crews who may need to leave on an emergency call at any time.

  • Trucks are not available for birthday parties, grand openings or sidewalk sales.
  • Trucks are available for block parties only if a permit is issued.
  • Due to safety concerns, trucks no longer attend parades unless it is a large municipal parade with designated viewing areas and parade routes.

School and daycare events

In October, we visit each elementary school in Lenexa for Fire Prevention Month to talk about fire safety. Our firefighters are also available to visit commercial and home daycares, preschools and schools for events and to give presentations on fire safety and fire careers.

Fire safety presentations

The Department can provide a representative to give a presentation on fire and life safety issues for groups and businesses.
