  • Mayor Mike Boehm honored with E.A. Mosher Excellence in Local Government Award by the League of Kansas Municipalities.
  • Community Development received the Civil Engineering Project of the Year for the Little Mill Creek Tunnel project from the American Society of Civil Engineers Kansas City Section.
  • Transportation Project of the Year for Small Cities for the Little Mill Creek Tunnel project from the Kansas City Chapter of the American Public Works Association.
  • Meagan McCarthy (Police Department) received the Everyday Hero Award from the Mid-America Regional Council.

  • Lenexa City Center received the inaugural Great Places in Kansas Award from the Kansas Chapter of the American Planning Association.
  • Lenexa Police Department received Gold Certification in Crisis Intervention Training and Best Practices from CIT International.
  • Chief Financial Officer Doug Robinson earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kansas Government Finance Officers Association.
  • Payton Prock (Police Department) received the Officer of the Year Award from the Metropolitan Police Chiefs and Sheriff Association.
  • Lenexa Parks & Recreation received the Outstanding New or Innovative Sports Program Award for the Swingin’ For a Scholarship Pickleball Tournament from the Kansas Recreation and Park Association.

  • Parks & Recreation’s swim lessons were named a Family Favorite Winner by KC Parent Magazine.
  • Assistant Chief Financial Officer Jill Grube received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kansas Government Finance Officers Association. 

2018

  • Lenexa civic campus received the AGC of Kansas Award of Excellence from the Association of General Contractors of Kansas; the Kansas City Capstone Award from the Kansas City Business Journal; and the Illumination Award of Merit from the Illuminating Engineering Society.
  • Project of the Year Award for the Clear Creek Regional Stormwater Facility from both the American Public Works Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
  • Blue Seal of Excellence from Automotive Service Excellence for the Fleet Building.
  • Inspire, Create, Innovate Community Award for the Civic Campus Grand Opening event, September to Remember, from the League of Kansas Municipalities.

2017

  • Honoree for the Healthiest Employer Award from the Kansas City Business Journal.
  • Danny Chavez (Police) received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National PTA.
  • Alan Beyer (Police) was recognized by the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators for his exceptional work. 

2016

  • Fire Captain Josh Rauh named National VFW Firefighter Gold Medal Winner from the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
  • Council member Andy Huckaba honored with E.A. Mosher Excellence in Local Government Award by the League of Kansas Municipalities
  • Lenexa Communications Department received an AMP Gold Award of Excellence in Best Campaign Use of Social Media from the Social Media Club of Kansas City.
  • Black Hoof Park named Favorite Park by Kansas City Magazine. 

2015

  • Dawn Layman received the Women Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award from the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives.
  • Municipal Services received an Excellence in Snow and Ice Control Award from the American Public Works Association.
  • Top 10 Court Website Award from the National Association for Court Management.
  • First Place Savvy Award in both Graphic Design and Printed Publications for the 2014 Year in Review. 

2014

  • Project of the Year Award from American Society of Civil Engineers for the Little Mill Creek Stream Restoration.
  • Excellence in Operations Program Award for the native plant propagation program from the Kansas City Chapter of the American Public Works Association.
  • President’s Award from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association, highest annual award.
  • Infrastructure Under $25 million Honor Award from Design-Build Institute of America for the 79th Street Reconstruction Project.
