Hunger doesn’t take a summer break

Summer break is a welcome reprieve for many kids. It is also a time of great hunger for those who rely on school meals.

During the month of May, Lenexa’s We Care Committee will collect food items online to help stock the Johnson County Human Services (JCHS) food pantry that helps fill the hunger gap for local families. The best part? You don’t even have to go to the store. JCHS has an Amazon wish list. Here’s how you can donate and help keep kids fed this summer:

  1. Visit the JCHS Amazon wish list of most needed items.
  2. Add items to your cart.
  3. Pay for those items.
  4. Amazon will deliver your donation.

The City of Lenexa’s We Care Committee is made up of representatives from each City department. The group organizes events and campaigns throughout the year to support area not-for-profit organizations.
