We’re excited to announce that we’ve got a new Lenexa Farmers Market manager!

But we bet you’re already acquainted.

Hailey Tassone is Lenexa Parks & Recreation’s recently promoted recreation supervisor for nature. This role includes overseeing the Farmers Market, community gardens and many other programs. She has worked for the City in several positions since 2022 and became a key player in supporting Market operations.

“I really love this market,” Hailey said. “It really is a family with our vendors here, and their connections with the community are just amazing.”

Hailey has a degree in horticulture and previously worked as a gardener at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. One of her horticulture professors at Johnson County Community College first introduced her to the Lenexa Farmers Market, and it’s been a happy match ever since.

“I look forward to putting on the Market every week and seeing the community come out to enjoy everything our local vendors have to offer,” Hailey said. “Locally sourced food and supporting small businesses is something that is very important to me, and I know many Lenexans feel the same way.”

Look for Hailey the next time you visit the Market. She’d love to field your questions and feedback.

4 things you might not know about Hailey

  1. She bakes bread (and other goodies) pretty much every week. Ask her about the different flours she experiments with.

  2. She has a lot of fruit and vegetables earrings. See if you can spot them at the Market.

  3. As a former barista, you can’t stump her with a custom coffee order. Not gonna happen.

  4. She has a great passion for plants, nurturing over 50 houseplants — and “growing!” — with seasonal vegetables on her patio. Feel free to ask about growing some of your own produce in smaller spaces.
