5 Things to know about the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center
Published on September 08, 2025
There’s a new place to gather, play and connect in the heart of Old Town. Whether you’re looking for kid-friendly fun, casual fitness or a welcoming space for older adults, the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center has something for everyone. Here are five key things to know before you visit:
1. It’s a drop-in destination for all ages.
The Old Town Activity Center isn’t membership-based — it’s built around flexible, affordable programming and drop-in activities. You’ll find a variety of rotating classes, enrichment programs and casual recreation for kids, adults and families. To participate in a program, register in advance. For a drop-in activity, just show up, pay a small fee (or use a punch card), and join in.
NEW! After school activities: Looking for a fun way for kids to stay active and connect with friends after school? Swing by for After School Open Play, offered Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Kids and families of all ages can enjoy a variety of games and sports — basketball, pickleball, table tennis, shuffleboard, futsal and more — both inside the gym and out on the porch. It’s the perfect way to unwind, move and make new friends after a full school day.
2. Older adults have a space of their own in the Haskins wing.
The Haskins side of the facility is tailored for older adults. It’s a welcoming space to enjoy weekday lunches for a suggested donation through Johnson County Nutrition Services, play cards or bingo, take a fitness class, catch a movie or attend a wellness workshop. It’s all about staying active and connected in a fun, social setting.
3. It’s a go-to spot for birthday parties, celebrations and rentals.
Planning a party? The facility is great for preschoolers and sports-loving kids. It’s also a flexible space for family gatherings, meetings, baby showers and more. Lenexa residents get a discount. Rental spaces
4. Punch cards make it easy to save money.
No need for a long-term commitment. If you plan to visit regularly for drop-in activities, a punch card is your best bet. It’s a simple, budget-friendly way to stay involved and make the most of your time at the center. Punch cards are $27 to $45 for a 10-punch card — a 10% savings. Otherwise, prices range from $3 to $5 to play or participate. Plus, cards can now be purchased and available in the Lenexa Parks & Rec app so you can scan and go.
5. Courts, company and connection await outside.
Outside, you’ll find pickleball and shuffleboard courts, a basketball hoop and plenty of room to meander or just catch up with old and new friends. You can check out cornhole boards and other equipment for shuffleboard, table tennis and pickleball inside. The space is open for free play when not reserved for programs, events or drop-in activities. Daily schedule
