Primary election set for Lenexa Ward 1 City Council race on Aug. 5

Voters in Lenexa’s Ward 1 will head to the polls on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, to cast ballots for the Lenexa City Council Ward 1 position. All official information about this election can be found on the Johnson County Election Office website.
Three candidates filed for the Ward 1 seat, triggering the need for a primary election to narrow the field to two finalists. The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025.
Those not registered to vote must do so by July 15, 2025, to take part in the Aug. 5 election.

By mail
Voters may also request to vote by mail by submitting an application. Deadlines and application forms are available through the Johnson County Election Office.
Once completed, your advance ballot must be postmarked by 7 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025, and received at the Election Office via USPS by Aug. 8.
Election Day voting
Only residents living within Lenexa’s Ward 1 boundaries are eligible to vote in this primary.
On Election Day — Tuesday, Aug. 5 — polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must go to their assigned polling place to vote in person.
