Reasons families love to visit Farmers Market
Published on June 17, 2025
The Lenexa Farmers Market is a memorable place to visit with kids — or anyone who’s a child at heart. It’s a hands-on experience that engages all your senses as the farm-fresh finds shift with the seasons. And the outdoor setting inspires a feeling of loosening up as you reconnect with vendors and friends.
Try before you buy
Our vendors offer free samples of many products, including kombucha, salsa, pastelitos, bread, cinnamon rolls, pecans, freeze-dried candy, cookies and more.
Kid-friendly food and drink
Do the young members in your crew get hangry? We can help. Snack on the go or slip these goodies into lunches later. Look for beef sticks, honey sticks, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, carrots, cookies and pastries, kettle corn, veggie chips, freeze-dried fruit, smoothies and hot chocolate.
Vibrant atmosphere
Sway and bob to live music by local performers from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on every Market day. Get the wiggles out playing oversized yard games on the turf or watching the civic campus fountain. Marvel at the creations made by talented local artists.
Eye spy
While you’re shopping, challenge young kids to hunt for a stuffed ladybug hidden among our vendors' local produce. After they find it, they can visit the info booth to pick a prize.
Food demonstrations
Johnson County Extension Master Food Volunteers will hand out free recipes and conduct occasional cooking demos. You’ll get to watch and then taste delicious ways to use various Farmers Market products.
Easy to get around
There are elevators in the parking garage and inside Lenexa City Hall to help you access the floor you need. Strollers and wagons can pull double duty as shopping carts. We’ve got plenty of room to haul kids or groceries.
Take a load off
Need to sit down for a break or duck indoors to cool off? We’ve got lots of benches and picnic tables throughout the civic campus. You can also step inside City Hall, the Lenexa Public Market, Lenexa Rec Center or City Center Library.
Protection from weather
Don’t let a little rain keep you home. We've got a covered parking garage and a deep awning that protects most vendor booths. You'll stay dry while shopping, and so will your purchases.
Convenient facilities
When nature calls or you need to wash sticky fingers, there are clean indoor restrooms close at hand, plus outdoor-accessible restrooms at the Lenexa Rec Center. No need to stand in line at a portable toilet. We even have a private mother’s room in the City Hall lobby.
